Why use a Prosthodontist
Prosthodontics is one of the ten dental specialities recognised by the American Dental Association. Prosthodontists are trained in the fabrication of crowns, bridges, complete and partial removable dentures, and dental implant restorations. Additionally, prosthodontists receive extensive training in restoring defects arising from traumatic injuries to the oral structures and congenital or birth anomalies such as cleft palate and oral / facial cancer.
Of the more than 3500 trained Prosthodontists in the United States only 1/3 are Board Certified. Certification by the American Board Of Prosthodontics requires the successful completion of a written examination and the presentation of three documented patient treatments to a panel of examiners all of whom are experienced Board Certified prosthodontists. After successfully challenging the board exam the prosthodontist is recognized as a Diplomat. Maintaining this status requires a commitment to continuing professional education by attending and/or presenting scientific lectures or publishing articles or textbook chapters.Dr Hutton has been a Diplomat since 1981. Dr. Hutton is the only Certified Prosthodontist in the area.
